Depressing what you can afford in London

Dp and I after years of saving are just about able to scrape together a flat deposit. Even using all of the first time buyer reliefs, it’s depressing what we can afford. Then we are looking at payments of £3000 a month for 1 bed flat or tiny 2 bed.

Have looked at buying out in Kent and commuting but the commuting costs eat away from any saving.

This thread makes me so glad I left London years ago. London was always expensive, but these prices are insane! On the minus side if I'd bought my one bedroomed garden flat in Zone 3 for 60k all those years ago, I would be laughing now! But really, UK house prices are outrageous, especially when compared with salaries!

Zone 3 Streatham or Norbury will get you a 3 bed terrace for around £500K that will just need some sprucing up. Great connections into the city and relatively quiet with some great green spaces.
