Would you move because you’re bored of the area?

Have been renting a lovely period flat for the last three years. Nice upmarket area but boring. The flat itself has so much scope but hasn’t had a penny spent on it for 10-15 years so it’s feeling tired.

We are thinking about moving to a flat that’s closer to work. We’d save 40 mind travel a day. It’ll be bigger and the area is safe but not upmarket or pretty.

Would you move out of a nice rental with good agents just because you’re feeling a bit bored?

Yes if I was renting and didn’t have kids (assume you don’t) I think I would enjoy trying out new areas.

Also it’s not just that, it’s 40 min a day travel and more space?

If I could afford it yes.

Absolutely - that's the huge advantage that renters have over homeowners IMO, the ability to move quickly without having to buy or sell a property, and without having to make a major commitment - you can try new places out for 6-12 months and move on if you fancy a change.

Tell the agent that the place is feeling tired, needs decorating, u still love it there, but it’s time to start saving to buy.

would you feel better about the flat if you owned it and could do what you want?

Definitely! As a pp said, surely thats the upside of renting.

Yes….. I suppose you could say I was
Bored of where I was living, in that designer outlet shopping didn’t interest me so I moved to the mountains and lakes that did!

For 40 mins less travel and a bigger flat? Hell yes! That’s the flexibility you get from renting.
