Handmade Kitchens of Christchurch quality and alternatives

I’m looking to buy a new kitchen and have placed a deposit with HMKC, but due to the very long lead time and some concerns about quality I am considering other options too.

I read a review on Trustpilot which said the oak veneer is paper thin and the kitchen looks 15 years old after 2 years. I wondered if the quality has gone down as I haven’t seen many recent reviews. We could potentially spend a bit more but ideally looking for inframe with oak veneer or birch ply carcasses.

if you have a kitchen from HMKC would you recommend it? Any alternatives I should consider?

We’ve just had a HKOC installed a couple of months ago and I’ve been very happy with the quality. Everyone comments on how beautiful it is - and I’m quite picky about this kind of thing

I’m afraid I’m not further down the line to comment on how it will age, but it looks pretty well made

Thank you that’s reassuring! I did visit the showroom but didn’t have enough time to look in detail.

We installed a HMKC kitchen around 9 months ago and it still looks fabulous. Our builder has a similar style kitchen in his house from another supplier and he said ours was better quality than his kitchen.

Can anyone advise on the difference between a Devol kitchen and HMKC? Devol seem to use a hardwood door and have birch ply carcasses. Is it worth the difference?
