Blinds that are not shutters

I am considering new blinds (purchasing at the moment) looking at styles..do you think shutters and blinds that look like shutters have had their day? They've been in style a while now and it seems every other house has them.

Any stylish alternatives that won't date?

Do you mean venetian blinds? Eg. Horizontal slatted blinds? I think they have been around decades longer than shutters and are far more practical. Also a fraction of the cost. I don't understand the love for shutters.

I love a Venetian blind, but not in the kitchen, where they get really greasy and gross.

Shutters seem really fussy to me, unless they're genuine built in Victorian ones.

What style of blind / shutter would you actually LIKE?
Have never followed trends /styles / the latest thing etc but have always decorated & furnished how we WANT, that way we never feel we are in / out of fashion.

Personally we LOVE shutter blinds and have them paired with lovely thick, heavy curtains.😉

Venetian blinds seem like cheaper shutters- not knocking them at all, just think they've probably had their day. I do like them though.

I guess anything except roller blinds will be fine!

@LadyTiredWinterBottom2 Shutters don’t get tangled up cords or wonky slats. I think they look great in the right room. You can have half shutters for privacy. Venetian blinds are obviously cheaper and cover the whole window or the top part. Not just for privacy at the bottom. I’ve got both for different reasons and sizes of window. Shutters suit older properties better I think.

I really like the bamboo pull blinds but you cant beat a nice shutter!

Have a look at the Blinds2Go website. They've got blinds you won't ever know existed!

Luxaflex do a great range of blinds

I’ve had wide slat white wooden Venetian blinds up for 15 years and they’ve stood the test of time. They suit my decor and home and are versatile in that I can pull them up to clean the windows. I got them from Next and I think they still make them. No regrets at all.

We have large bay windows and thinking about having very large slat blinds in bay window as can’t justify the cost of shutters on two bay windows also house doesn’t get a lot of natural light.

Only three colour choices available in the large slats black, off white or a grey/greige colour. I fancied off white and think I could live with it longer if we redecorate but DH prefers the grey/greige colour.

What do you think is the grey / greige colour dated? I need to decide by the end of today.
