What is going on with our buyers?

Live in Scotland.

Accepted an offer on 2nd Feb, subject to sale of buyers house. Buyers then managed to sell 3 weeks later.

Fast forward to now, 4 weeks from buyer securing a sale (from a cash buyer btw!) we're no further forward. My solicitor updated on Friday that he chased buyers solicitors and they've advised they're still waiting on mortgage offer, therefore solicitors can't agree a date of entry yet.

4 weeks and no mortgage offer.. really?? I'm starting to worry they're dragging their heels for some reason and so nervous they'll pull out which inevitably means we lose our dream home. Google does say it can take up to 6 weeks but most folk have within a few. We got ours within a week.

Is this normal? Should I be worried?

We’re still waiting for our mortgage offer & it’s been about 4 weeks now, so it probably is just that if that’s what the solicitors have said.
(I’m in England though, so could be different of course)

Ours took a few weeks x

ours took ages - 4 or 5 weeks. For seemingly no good reason at all.

Lenders have become much more risk adverse. This is currently normal.

Ours took weeks to come through. It also depends on when they had their mortgage meeting; takes a week if not more to book a meeting and then add a couple of weeks on to they for the bank to make a decision. So that's at least 3-4 weeks supposing they made the mortgage appointment the day after they got their sale.

We didn't make ours until our buyers solicitors got in touch because we'd had two sales fall through before then and we're just being cautious.

We put a knifed on in Jan with no worries about it being accepted.
It took a couple of months
It's now June and with no chain either end there will always be hiccups
4 weeks is nothing !
