What property details have you been sent that were nothing like your requirements?

Lighthearted! I went to my local estate agent last week and told them I am looking for a 2 bedroom retirement flat and I need it to be near a bus route as I don't drive

They have sent me details for a 4 storey town house with a garage!

Have any of you had huge discrepancies between what you've requested and what you've received?

Yes! We've bought now so we got there in the end but the amount of properties we were sent that were way higher than our top budget, in a completely different area or with the wrong number of bedrooms/ no drive/ no garden was frustrating, even though we had several conversations about our needs beforehand.

Also even though I have asked them specifically to take us off their mailing list, and have unsubscribed from their emails, most EAs are STILL sending me blurb for houses!

I should have known this would happen as when I bought my house 15 years ago my stated requirements were for a 2 bedroom house within 15 minutes walk of the hospital I worked at

Although I did receive a lot of details for houses that matched the above, I remember receiving details for:~

A flat which was a 30 minute bus ride away

A 2 bedroom house in the next city (to be fair the district name was very similar to one in my locality)

A 4 bedroom house which was £300,000 above my budget

Would love an EA to post on here and let me know if prospective buyers ever change their mind about their original needs after being sent details which are different to what they have requested . . .

Looking for a rural detached house with land, keep getting sent flats in cities. It drives me insane, especially in light of the houses selling before they hit rightmove thread. Don’t want to close down any potential leads

Wanted house within walking distance of a particular school. And in the city with a garden.

Sent details of a house that would have meant 16 miles walking a day to do the schoolrun.

Also sent several sets of details for rural equestrian properties several £100k outside our price range.

Not recently, but 20 years ago.

We wanted a 3 bed detached house, max budget about £220k.

One agent was sending details of 5 bed detached at £500k+

Asked why and the response was, "well if it's the right house for you, you may want to push your budget.".

All the bloody 5 beds were the right houses, just couldn't pull the extra £300k out my arse.

That's ridiculous . . . . I do wonder what planet some of them come from🤔

Actually I've just had a similar experience in my bank where one of the staff advised me that if I popped £20,000 into my ISA in the next couple of days, it would be tax free. I asked him where I was going to get £20,000 from and he looked perplexed!
