Hi!
so we just a quote for :
replacing 15 fence panels
providing and installing a gate which will need a new post
they dismantle and discard a shed and the old panels

1600£

we think it’s ok but I am just checking as I really haven’t got much of a clue .

we are up in the rainy north

Seems reasonable to me, price of each panel, plus labour, plus dismantling the gate with installation of new, dismantling the panels and shed.

Lot of work.

I’m in West Yorkshire and I think it’s fair x

AhNowTed · 24/03/2024 19:28

Sounds v reasonable.

I think that's a fab price. I've been quoted £1k to replace posts, kickboards (cement) and feather board fencing for the equivalent of three panels and remove gates (not replace) and existing fencing. So I think your price seems really fair (I know feather board will be more labour intensive)

Thank you so much everybody, we are gonna go for it 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Problem with fencing is that the job can be very easy or hard depending on details.

Post replacement is always the hardest thing to do, especially if they have to dig out the old posts. Putting new panels in existing posts is normally pretty easy, although sometimes the post spacing means panels have to be cut and re edged in order to fit which can be a bit of a pain.

I think £1600 is a good deal if your work is what I imagine it to be, as the material costs alone might be as much as £1000 depending on what sort of quality materials you get.

Sounds cheap to me.

CrotchetyQuaver · 25/03/2024 13:06

Sounds good, timber is expensive!

mrsnjw · 25/03/2024 14:41

Sounds good 👍

housethatbuiltme · 25/03/2024 16:25

sounds OK.

Fence and gate prices can be shockingly high, we have seen quotes of that just for gates.

Getting rid of a shed alone could easily be £400+ just for skips/removals.

Edgeofthesea · 25/03/2024 16:35

Sounds pretty good to me. We had 5 panels and 2 gates put in and our quotes were in the £8-900 region.
