Will a 7mm rawl plug and screw support my 6kg mirror

Hello, I hope this is the right place to ask this question. I've got a new mirror that's 6kg and on the back there's a keyhole fitting for one screw. I normally put things up with two, so I'm a bit nervous about only using one (and it falling off and squishing the dog!). I've got some brown heavy duty 7mm rawl plugs and it's going into brick above a fireplace. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thank you!

What shape / size is the mirror? I have a very heavy round Laura Ashley mirror that is on one screw, but it's only about 750mm in diameter.

NB a lot will depend on what the wall is made of. Have a look at Bullfix fixings (available on Amazon). They are designed to support very heavy weights.

I use these rawlplugs, which are not cheap but they are very very good and strong and reliable. The weights that can be supported depends on what you're screwing into - but even the 6mm ones will hold more than your mirror.

Definitely don't put it up just in plasterboard though - you'll need to find a stud or put it on a solid wall.

Another vote for the Duo Power. For 6kg I’d probably want at least an 8x40. I frame a lot of large art work and these are great for crappy new build dot and dab, as long as you get them into a stud, and also for older houses with proper walls. I bought them to hang a gong on the wall, which is a touch heavier than your mirror.

Thank you, all. I’ll get some of the duopowers and say a little prayer!

@ClematisBlue49 it’s about the same size. It’s a ‘pebble’ so a bit blob-like. I’ll be a wall fixing expert by the time I get this mirror up! Thank you for the advice.
