Hi, we are looking to buy a house closer to London and found a property in Ashford, Kent near godington Park. Any idea is it good area and the schools are like? And we got kids as well .Thank you!

Some nice walks around there. High speed to London. You will be fine there, Ashford isn't great though tbh. Outlet for shopping though and there's a cinema. M20 to the coast. Not sure about schools though.

I live in Kent and Ashford in general does not have the best reputation. Often referred to as 'Trashford'...

Have you considered Folkestone? has a fast train to London (50 minutes) and has had lots of investment in the past few years.

I know a couple of people who live there and they have no problems and depending on which part of Godinton can be really nice as there's a wide range of properties. Waitrose nearby and Sainsbury's and an M&S Food store within a short distance. Ashford Town Centre itself isn't great but you've got trains to London or the coast from Ashford International. Oh and it's Godinton - no G but many people put one in so you're not alone in that!

Local primary, Repton Park is good and there are plenty of play areas and a nice community centre, There's a handy bus service too!

@Startingagainandagain I checked folkestone but there isn't any good houses to our likes. Also we looked into Milton Keynes, Bletchley.

All town centres are trash now to be fair

it’s fine. The road from jct 10a and the outlet, Bad Munistrifel is horrific for traffic which is mostly what we all piss and moan about

I live in Deal and ours is still lovely!

Ashford is more affluent generally than folkestone. Its reasonably flat and quite good for cycling in case that is your thing. I would check out the secondary moderns before you decide though.

I live v close to that area, seems nice enough, good schools near the town centre etc

I know Springwood - not the best area of Godinton - I personally would avoid.

Madisonsha · 22/03/2024 13:26

@Blueberrycreampie it's alright the house has been sold even before viewing 😪
