Landlord refusing to pay for broken fence

My fence is so old and rotten and a panel blew off 3 months ago. 2nd panel also fell off 2 months ago and I'm left with a huge gap in my garden leading to my neighbours garden.

Good shes a nice lady
I've got a 5 year old and an indoor cat too.

The neighbour sometimes dog sits so we really need the fence fixed but my landlord is so tight he doesn't spend money.. he just increases my rent but won't spend. Even tho he is rich.

So basically now he is saying instead of replacing the 2 broken ones he wants to add a bush there as it's cheaper.

That's not convenient for me nor my neighbour. No privacy and my cat and her dog etc.

He is so so rude he doesn't care and says its not his problem

Now my neighbour and I are discussing for us to pay for it.

I'm just annoyed as he always gets away with things and it's his house.

He should be embarrassed to do this. I'm a single mum too

Any advice?

Unfortunately if the LL wants to put up a hedge then thats what they can do convenient for you or not. All fences are designed to do is mark boundaries as a convenience for everyone, but you don't even need a physical barrier so he could say I'm going to put a piece of string in the gap to mark my land and that would also be acceptable.

Ive had the same problem with landlords. The neighbours fence below down in the wind and the tenant told me the landlord was refusing to replace and if I as the neighbour wanted a fence, i would have to pay to have it replaced. Absolute CF that landlord was but he didn't care as long as his money was coming in month after month.

Sounds like every landlord i've ever met to be honest.

I'd go forward with paying for the fence myself to be honest
