Mid terrace with solid walls-noise?

Currently pondering a 3 bed mid terrace cottage that is solid wall. My current house is solid wall but detached so unsure whether noise would carry from next door more, less or the same as in a newer build with cavity walls, does anyone have any experience or insight please?

I'm in a Victorian end of terrace and the walls seem quite thick. I only hear shouting really. (Rare thankfully.) I've had babies to teenagers next door. I grew up in a 30s semi and could hear normal voices and the TV.

Thanks @ZanzibarIsland I used to live in a 60s semi and the walls were pretty thin, could hear tv a lot. Quite keen to avoid that!

I’m currently in a Victorian end Terrace and moving to a Victorian mid terrace. Very rarely hear anything from our current neighbours and it clearly hasn’t put us off!

Victorian or similar age tend to be better, but having said that, one place I lived in had some gaps in the subfloor partition wall (under the floorboards) that let the sound through so it’s not always guaranteed.

Im currently in an 80s build semi which is actually surprisingly good from a noise pov. So I guess although the normal thinking is older = more sturdy, it’s not always the case.

Could be worth viewing it at a time when people are normally home, watching TV, kids playing etc, then you'll know for sure.

I went mid morning on a Saturday, dead quiet but it looked like both neighbours might have been older. More worried my toddler might drive them potty if I moved in!

I'm in a mid-terrace - I hear the odd sneeze, shouting and some moving of furniture, my kids are grown up now but I would worry - I'm always telling everyone to turn down the TV.

I'm in a Victorian mid-terrace too. Rarely hear anything from my neighbours. The gardens are a different matter though!

Victorian mid-terrace and our old neighbours used to argue and scream and shout and throw breakables at ea h other. We heard that. New neighbours we don't hear a peep!

We have young kids and apparently we're barely heard as babies, even though we felt they were screaming at quite the decibel level.
