What’s the deal with exchange - will solicitor phone to check with me or just go ahead and let me know after?

Assuming we’ve had recent contact (same day or close) and I’ve been clear I still want to go ahead, will they confirm again?

I think it depends. I’m waiting to hear today , my solicitors called me yesterday to ask the question and they called again first thing this morning. I’ve assumed I’ll hear no more until they report it has/hasn’t happened. The waiting is excruciating isn’t it?! 🤪

I don't think they will. The next thing you will hear is that it's happened. The solicitor normally mails or phones to confirm sometime after lunch.

They usually ask you for your authority each day until exchange has happened, which is part of the reason it sometimes takes a few hours- every solicitor in the chain will have to do that for their client, and if it pushes into the next day they do it all again!

I’d say go ahead and ring after.
