Kitchen ideas- island/peninsula/something else?

Hi!

Hoping for some advice and inspiration here. We're moving to a new house that has a horseshoe shaped kitchen (pics attached, 5mx3m).

The dining table is just outside the kitchen (pocket doors to the left of (3) in the pic). We need seating in the kitchen - counter seating for 2-4 (there's 4 of us but it's mainly for the kids at breakfast) as I make their lunches while they eat and we hang out.

The doors (4) lead out to a terrace.

I'd really love to hear any ideas, experience that could help me figure out how to get seating in here.

Thank you!

Is it a brand new house, or new to you and therefore you are refitting?
If the latter, could you restrict the units to the far wall, and replace the rest of them in a large island, incorporating additional seating area. I’ve attached a pic, which shows it in a huge space, but I have seen it done really well in a small ish kitchen, where the island became a peninsular.

Hi!

It's new to us.

Do I understood your suggestion right?. You mean all units on the short walk (where there is a (2) on the diagram?

Yes, that’s what I was thinking of. It depends on how big that wall is and how much you need to pack into the kitchen.

Here is a recent John Lewis of Hungerford pic, but I think you have got a bigger space than this. So more units on that back wall, could incorporate larder unit/breakfast unit etc., then a large flat surface, with units one side, parallel to the others, and a seating area to the open side. You could make it into a U shape, with additional floor units to one side, as per the first image, but I would then join the ‘island’ to the floor units.
I’m rushing to get out, so haven’t had time to search through for the best images.

Thanks a million @NiceNiche . I think that's a great suggestion! I hadn't thought of that
