Renting: stay in 1 bed or move to 2 bed

Renting in London, YUPPIEs.

Currently rent a 1 bed flat for £1,900 a month in Zone 1. Have seen a 2 bed flat in Zone 2 (same commute time) for £2,200. Would it be wasteful to move out to a 2 bed? The bigger flat is a maisonette, nice area, but bit rougher.

Do you need a second bedroom?
If not then paying an extra £300 per month to live in a rougher area doesn’t seem like a great move tbh.
