Pine floor grey dye/varnish

Hello lovely mumsnetters,
I am looking for advice on dyeing the pine floor in my lounge, adjacent to the tiled dining room. It would be ideal to have it match the marked up grey in the tiles. The product currently on is Rubio Monocoat 2c oil and is coming off as not fit for purpose. Floor is due to be sanded back tomorrow.
I found PigletJohn's advice on here to use spirit based wood dye and a few coats of diamond finish varnish so trying that now. Samples of white, ebony and navy have been ordered to mix and match as there arent many options in grey.
Does anyone have any experience with mixing these dyes and using them on pinewood? Should I use any kind of primer first? Please also share any ideas on how to get the right shade of grey. Am I just better off directly varnishing the pine floor?
PigletJohn if you happen to be reading this, kindly point me in the right direction and many thanks for sharing your expertise!
