I've lived with no proper kitchen or boiler before, so I can cope with some level of disruption, but it's been a long time and it wasn't this big of a project. We're planning a kitchen extension on one side of the property and a double-story wrap-around. We have noise-sensitive pets that we need to keep safe from dust, and we need to keep them from escaping into dangerous places and getting in the builder's way. I'm considering our options. Has anyone lived in a caravan on their property during building work? If you went this route, how much did it cost weekly, how long did you need it, and would you recommend it?
If you could differentiate the building phases, how long did the foundations and framing take where you could live fairly normally in your home?
At what point did it get difficult?
How long and when was the most disruptive - during the knock-through?
When did things get easier towards the end?
One of my major concerns is running under floor heating throughout the downstairs, and if this all has to be done at one time - do you have to vacate the property, and if so, for how long?
