Good area for family in W/SW/NW London

Hi. Looking for help with choosing an area to move in West side of London for a family (34M &29F) with a 2yr old kid. We currently live in 2-bed flat in Croydon, but since our income grew, we are looking to move somewhere nicer and upsize. My sister lives just west of London, so we want to move closer to her. But we both work next Victoria station, so want to have a commute no more than 40min to work, door-to-door.
Our budget is £550k and we are looking for a 3 bed flat or house, within 0.5 mile from station.
We want a nice neighbourhood, with nice pubs/cafes we could go to over the weekend, and good schools for our son.
Our top areas so far are New Malden, Surbiton. We are also considering Bromley South, Streatham hill and Penge, eventhough those are not West London. Looking for new recommendations, as well as comments about our chosen areas.

Thanks in Advance

Hi, not sure why your request went unanswered but you could get a Victorian cottage in Penge for that money, 5-10 mins from the station. Penge has changed a lot in recent years and loads of cafes, nice bars/pubs and shops these days, as well as an amazing array of transport routes. You can get to Victoria in 18 mins.

Btw you might want to put the locations in the title as it's so vague at the moment, most people won't respond.

550k is not a large budget for a 3 bed in the nice parts of West.

I'd focus on SW as it will be cheaper than the equivalent areas in NW or W. Surbiton and Kingston are good options as you already pointed out. Also check Raynes Park and parts of Merton.
