Beds for a 8 and 9 year old

Unfortunately with the cost of living we had planned to move to a three bed but can only afford a two bed again. Our children currently share (a girl and a boy). We are hoping to save by doing this so we can have a three bed in a year or so.
they do like sharing but understandably want their own space! We were thinking about high sleepers but I’ve read quite of lot of negativity about these which have made me question this such as it being hot at the top (both children are extremely sweaty sleepers!) and nowhere to sit when friends come over.

What beds do you have if you have these ages sharing?

High sleepers are a pain to change the bedding and horrible when your dc are sick.

I'd go with two decent 3ft single beds if the room permits it? On the grounds above. There are loads of ideas on the internet for dividing rooms without dividing them . Curtains, fabric dividers, bookcases as partitions, beds lengthwise down the room with bookcases as a mutual headboard.

How much space have you got to play with? If you have to buy new stuff I'd plan for it to last longer than 12 month so you have some contingency and ability to save. By 2/3 years tops though your 11/12 yo is going to want some privacy.

Mine had a bunk bed at that age, would that save more space for furniture/play? You can get the ones that you can separate to make 2 single beds, so you don't have to re-buy when you move
