First Time Selling and Buying...confused!!

Hello!

This is our first time selling and buying and I'm so confused with the process and steps we need to follow. I have looked online but can't find much help.

So far, we have accepted an offer on our house and our buyer is sold stc to a developer. We had our offer accepted on our onward purchase and our vendor is buying a chain free property, so there are 4 of us in the chain (I think!).

What we have done regarding our sale:

  • Instructed conveyancer
  • Filled out all paperwork
  • Draft contract sent to buyer

What we have done regarding our purchase:

  • Instructed conveyancer
  • Filled out all paperwork
  • Submitted mortgage application and received our offer
  • Booked survey for next week

At what stage is it safe to order searches etc for our onward purchase?

If the chain is complete and you’ve got your mortgage offer, I’d get going with the searches.

Also selling and buying for the first time here. But our chain isn’t complete yet so we’re holding off on searches.

Yeah once the chain is complete get the searches going, they can take ages.

My solicitor waited until the mortgage offer came through (was about a week from our offer being accepted)
