Carpet price

We don't have much time to get lots of quotes (I would have to take annual leave to do so) , so I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is a reasonable quote - the room is 4m x 4.8m.
The carpet we chose is £15 per m2.
The fitter will supply good quality underlay and all the fixings.
We are moving all the furniture and disposing of the old carpet.
He is charging £420 inc. VAT.

Does that include the carpet?

Does the £15 include VAT? So he's charging £120 for labour? That seems cheap. Otherwise if £420 labour that's expensive! I usually get carpet where the price includes underlay and fitting.

Price includes everything (I don't know if carpet price includes the underlay, but the whole job will be £420).

Sounds good, we paid about £520-560 per room but that included disposal of existing carpet and moving the furniture as well as all the rest.

That doesn't sound right.

4x4.8 m room means you'd need 19.2 m2 of carpet so round to 20, at £15 per m2 that's £300.

If you're then also needing underlay and fitting surely £120 wouldn't cover that?

I bought carpet for bedroom last month and the underlay was quite pricey. Fitting (for a v. small room) was about £60, so you are getting twenty sq metres of underlay and grippers and door bar thing for about £60, or even less. It seems very cheap, have they made a mistake? Happy days!

It sounds very cheap! Have they missed off something or calculated wrongly?
