does Anyone have any ideas on what we can do to cover this. It’s a rental property and there is a massive draft. Had a look and there is a hole. Landlord won’t fix it and has just put this radiator cover in front of it. The room is only tiny and this takes up so much room. Any ideas that won’t cost a Huge amount. Thanks

Is it a chimney? We have a chimney sheep in ours, blocks the draught nicely.
If it is just a hole into the wall cavity I could only suggest a piece of hardboard and strong tape to secure it behind the radiator cover but so check if it is anything that needs ventilation

Get some loft insulation and shove it up. Instant warmth
I have 13 open fireplaces in my house- they all have loft insulation up them

It’s a chimney, the opening is quite small. We wanted to get rid of the radiator cover as it doesn’t look right and takes up too much room, but don’t know how to do it 😩

That fine- if you dont intend to have an open fire then just shove loft insulation up there out of sight

Agree with pp. Strongly recommend chimney sheep, it will cut that draught! They do various sizes and no fixing required, it's just a friction fit so you push it in and if you need to take it out you just pull it back out again.
Not expensive.

They do round, square or rectangle and different sizes so you can find one to suit the gap you've got.
The field I work in advises people on saving energy and we recommend these to people to reduce heat lost through chimneys / discomfort from draughts all the time because they don't cause damp like the chimney balloons can.

Thank you. We are wondering what else we can we do to cover it up other than the radiator cover as well. I was hoping it would be a bigger gap so we could shove some loft insulation up there and the put one of those electric heaters in the gap but it’s too small. I’m also now wondering how we would get the insulation up there as the gap is not that big.

You can get inflatable chimney balloons which might be easier for a small hole like that? Probably worth knowing that blocking the chimney can sometimes cause damp problems because of the loss of ventilation.
