More space for 10k - would you do it?

Would you spend 10k to extend your property for an extra 4m x 7m? It wouldn’t be extending into the garden so would have no negative impact to the existing plot and you would definitely get the money back if you sell. However, the negative is that it’s an extra 10k on top of an existing house renovation budget and therefore it’ll take longer now to get everything completed. Not sure what to do for the best.

Definitely do it.

It's so much easier to do whilst the rest of the building work is in progress and an extra 28sq metres will make a huge difference.

Flubadubba · 21/02/2024 14:54

That would be a very cheap way of doing it, so def would.Current costs are running at c £2.5k a sqm..

Firsttimebabymama · 21/02/2024 15:04

yes

Candleabra · 21/02/2024 15:06

For £10k? For 28 sqm? Absolutely. That is a steal.

PragmaticWench · 21/02/2024 15:07

28m square for £10k?! How can you extend that much for so little, are you building it yourself?

Fortunately my DH is a builder so he’s free. (slightly ignoring how much he’s technically going to be losing from not doing paid jobs as we just need to cover our outgoings while the project goes ahead)

Plus we are already extending but this would just extend further out so costs less than if starting completely from scratch.

Yes.

DramaAlpaca · 21/02/2024 15:19

Yes, do it.

DevonshireDumpling1 · 21/02/2024 15:31

Absolutely do it. That is a bargain price and you’ll get a good return when you sell up. Always best to see also what neighbouring properties have done in terms of extensions.

100%

houseydncf · 21/02/2024 16:04

No brainer!

PragmaticWench · 21/02/2024 16:25

Most people would be paying about nine times that, count yourself incredibly lucky!

Gazelda · 21/02/2024 16:33

Absolutely! That's a bargain and I bet you'll add more than £10k to the value of the house.

28 sq metres is a wonderful extra space. I'm jealous!

Chasingsquirrels · 21/02/2024 16:41

I paid about that, over 10 years ago, for a 2m x 3m extension.

shreknjumps · 21/02/2024 16:54

Obviously yes
