Sliding Patio Doors

We are getting a ground floor extension done and I'm looking to get sliding doors fitted at the rear.
Any recommendations on brands and prices?
We are considering Sunvista, Origin, Hyline, Kloeber.
What kind of discounts can we expect from suppliers?

We had ours from Maxlight, they came highly recommended by many people and were indeed excellent. Great quality, meticulous installation. Ours recess in the wall and it’s lovely to have a whole wall disappear in the summer ☺️

Thanks @Tuturkeykey We had a look at Maxlight ourselves. Just finding it difficult to choose from all the options out there. The quotes we have received vary a lot and that is making us very cynical about being over charged. Could you please tell me if you tried to negotiate down on the quote you received from Maxlight? If yes, by how much?

Thanks!

I’m sorry I can’t recall what discount we got from Maxlight - it was negotiated by our project manager as part of a wider project (extension).

But if I may offer a cautionary tale - we went with cheaper suppliers for our other windows, and that turned out to be the worst decision we made. We had to deal with massive delays, non existent customer support (at one point we thought the windows company had done a runner with our deposit as they stopped answering phones and emails for weeks) and appalling installation which took months to fix. A structural glass panel weighing 200 kilos fell from the second floor on to the pavement as it had not been secured properly. I still shiver thinking about how it would have killed someone if anyone had been walking by. The delays in delivery and installation meant our house wasn’t weatherproof for months, which delayed everything else.

By contrast, Maxlight were on time, responsive, and never caused us any problems. They provided all the drawings we needed - in a nutshell they were real pros.

@Tuturkeykey Thanks! The window story sounds scary! Must have been a nightmare going through that. Customer support and service is high on our list of priorities and we are trying to gauge that as best we can while evaluating suppliers & companies.
