i am tempted by a maisonette which is barely bigger than the flat I own but where permission has been granted by the council for a loft conversion.
Floor plan is as below- 2 double beds and 1 bathroom. The flat in itself is unremarkable but with generous living area, 1 double bedroom and a single bedroom (basically what I have now, but my second bedroom is currently bigger and my current 1930s flat has far more kerb appeal; this seems to be a post war share of freehold maisonette). Same area as my flat and about 20% more expensive (i guess cos of the planning permission and it has its own private garden space).
Does it make any sense? On the upside I could end up with a 4 bed flat which is very rare but on the other hand i could end up spending a lot more money than I plan. I know 1 bed loft conversions are 50k, so I would say probably around up to 80k for such a loft conversion?
