Hi All,

We are looking at moving closer to my husbands parents (Hollywood/Maypole) in the next 6 months and are hoping you can help us with location ideas Budget is £700k max (ideally £600k or below) 4 bedrooms and a decent sized garden for the dog. We are planning for it to be the forever house (possible ability to create an annex for older relative)

We a have a 1 year old so schools will be important shortly. I'm WFH but my husband would need to get into the nearest office (Birmingham city centre) at least twice per week (possibly more as his work seems to be tightening up on WFH)

Here are my current options with thoughts to help (progressing further away from the in-laws :

Wythall/Holywood/Tidbury green ish - Seems nice but I'm concerned you will still get lots of crime from the areas its close to in South Birmingham (more of a concern for my daughter growing up) + no pub! (though we would probably only use it when friends stay). The train is also really slow and still 30 minutes into central Birmingham so if removed the benefit of the proximity to Birmingham (50 minutes with walks either end). If anyone is familiar with the area if you could say if I should write off property on station road/norton lane in Wythall due to traffic concerns?

Dorridge/Knowle - Seems nice but you don't get a lot for your money there. Could end up quite a walk from the station making it a longer commute than we would like.

Hampton in Arden - seems nice, possibly a little to small and no obvious secondary school options. quick commute.

Henley in Arden - we love this town but the train is very slow into Birmingham.

Leamington/Warwick - doesn't appear to be many places area close to the station that are nice and/or in our price range
