Putting a toilet under the stairs

Anyone done this? How easy was it.

Traditional 3 bed semi. Under the stairs currently just a pantry/store room. The electric box is in there. It has a window, plus the pipe work is just the other side of the outside wall.

Moving from a house with 4 toilets to a house with 1, so this is a priority.

Would love something like attached....

We’ve just done it. We also moved from a house with multiple toilets (just 2 though for us) to one with just one! We used the pantry space but reconfigured our hallway to gain extra space as the pantry was fairly shallow and a tall person would have struggled. We took the chunk of hallway between the pantry and our morning room, opening up a new doorway in the centre of our hallway / morning room wall. It now looks much better than it did originally as the layout makes sense, although our hallway is very large (long and wide). Cost us around 10k inc building work & decorating.

Thanks, we can only use the under stairs bit as it backs straight onto the kitchen.

Think I need a plumber/builder to come and have a look once we move in.

We've done it as part of other building work. Toilet on the low wall. Main thing to consider is how to get the waste out i.e. where is the drain relative to the under stair? Obviously you also need water supply for flush and basin.

Waste pipe always a tricky thing on the downstairs toilet.

Sewers need stuff to travel down them at speed. Which usually comes from being high up. If you don't have some sort of gravity assist on the waste it can block easily.

My PIL did this and installed a macerator toilet.
