Proposed by the government here:

Given done of the horrible things build under current permitted development I'm wary. Especially losing the 50% curtailage part. Bye bye gardens.

Seems like bringing the planning system up to date. Is it not home owner choice if they want to loose more of the garden they own ?

Arguable isn't it ?

For example I notice they are thinking of doing away with the 1m from the border limit for heatpumps, so you can place your pump pretty much on the boundary - in other words enabling people to move their noise further away from them and closer to their neighbour.

So great if you are the one installing the pump. Not so great if you are the one having to put up with the noise from it.

Personally I think they would be better off insisting that installed pumps must be quieter and doing away with the border limit.

Allowing wrap around extensions send to make sense. Raising roof ridges by 30cm might look odd in a terrace.

I'm not sure of the point. An LDC is not much cheaper than full planning application anyway.
