Vax carpet cleaner?

Hi all
So our cream IKEA rug needed a refresh after my son did a wee on it. We used the blue Henry wash, it's the most bulkiest thing and I haven't been able to get good results from it HOWEVER after washing the rug it now stinks of cat piss?! We know the cat hasn't pissed on the rug and it didn't smell of cat piss before... I want to get a new rug but can't justify the price. We have upstairs all carpeted so was looking at a Vax, easier to store and use but wondered about reviews on it, anyone have one or tried? If so what model is the most effective? I'm assuming I'll have to get the Vax shampoo to get rid of this awful smell. I've already done the bicarb trick etc with vinegar on an old rug we had and didn't work so not prepared to do it again

Oh and also the enzyme cleaner, done it. Masked the smell for a bit then came back.

I had a vax cleaner for years so can't recommend a current model but they're brilliant. I also worked for a commerical cleaning company years ago. Get yourself a bucket of 'Crystal Green' commercial cleaner. It's a powder you dose with a scoop. Smells great, cleans & deodorises. And you don't need much. One bucket of Crystal Green is massively cheaper than Vax cleaning products and it'll last you the rest of your life. I've had my bucket for 20+yrs! (it's about the same size as 3 ice cream tubs.)

I have the platinum one that you push forward to wash and pull back to dry. It's really good and did a great job refreshing my carpets. We've previously hired a rug doctor on several occasions, again we had good results, but I prefer having my own machine - I know what it has been used on!

I’ve had one of these for years bought it to valet our cars , it’s brilliant does rugs carpets as well. It’s amazing how much dirt it pulls out even when something doesn’t look dirty ……. The downside is you have to have space to store it. Well recommend.

To throw another brand in, I have a Rug Doctor home carpet cleaner. There is a chap on youtube who literally just reviews vacuum cleaners and carpet cleaners so he compares them all in a like for like situation. I chose the Rug Doctor because it takes more water out of the carpet leaving it drier and I also like the tip and roll it forward, pull back to clean action. I used to have a Bissell which worked for about 7 years but this is better. Here is his channel if you want to review your cleaner.
