Landlord Insurance recommendations - any landlords about?

I am due to renew my landlord insurance next month and (as I fully expected!) it has gone up

Last year was £1,358 for 8 houses
This year they are quoting £1,836 for 6 houses!

Have started looking, but want a decent company and have not found anything near last year's price, even though fewer houses

If you are a Landlord, who do you use for insurance and would you recommend them?

I use CIA. Never had to claim from them so who knows if they're good or not but just another one to consider.

I use Simply Business. £259/1 flat.

I don't bother with insurance, they find every excuse not to pay out

Can I ask what your LL insurance covers? I have buildings insurance, and separate cover for non-payment of rent. Always interested to know whether I’m (a) reasonably covered and (b) paying over the odds!

I go through a broker and they (in theory, at least) get me the best deal. I'm an accidental/reluctant landlord so it's not something I want to spend a lot of time and effort on.
