Hi all!

I'd really appreciate it if anyone could provide some insight on living in Wallington.

We currently live in Brixton and leaving to get more space following the arrival of DD. We need somewhere with an easy commute to the City (approx 1 hour door to door), good schools, south side London and in budget (around £1.5m).

We were focussed on New Malden but realised for the same price as a semi there we can get a much larger house in South Wallington near Wallington Girls.

The house is lovely but I don't know the area at all. We are going to visit again next week but does anyone have any insight on what it's like to live there / anything to bear in mind? I'd really really appreciate it.

hi, I'm also interested in NM. Did either of you find a home? :)

What non grammar options are there? I much prefer New Malden, more going on & closer to other places. Wallington has some lovely housing stock though.

Wallington is a bit of a nowhere place between Sutton and Croydon. The housing stock is nice but there is not a lot to do there and the shopping is a bit basic. We went to Carshalton in preference.

I did find a home! We are currently in the process of moving to Beckenham. As soon as we went there we knew that was the place we wanted to live. I am so glad I didn't move to Wallington in the end - we were very tempted by the prices of the houses but you get what you pay for and the downside there is it just isn't a particularly nice / interesting area to live. New Malden was better but still didn't pull at the heart strings. If you go Kent direction rather than Surrey direction you get more for your money and it feels much less like soulless suburbia IMO. Beckenham is very green, has a pretty high street, not too much traffic and lots going on like music festivals in Beckenham place park as an example. Re schools in NM Coombe girls is meant to be very good but the boys equivalent isn't so popular apparently. In Wallington there are good boys options but fewer (though some) good girls options.
