Asbestos worries, 1970s house!

Does anyone have a 70s house and worries about asbestos?? We've just bought and as soon as we had the keys, I noticed a long crack along the wall by the ceiling and down the join of the wall. For some reason, this really set me off worrying about asbestos! It does have artex ceilings so I knew it could be present but felt fine with it when I thought they were intact. Now I've googled it and learnt asbestos could be in all sorts of places I hadn't considered! It's making me worried about drilling holes in walls, putting in a new bathroom, ripping up old carpets! I know so many wouldn't even think about it but it's playing on my mind so much!

Asbestos is in most older houses. It was used in filler, in artex, around fireplaces I had it in some artex walls , it was removed but actually I wish we’d just had it skimmed. I wouldn’t worry too much, just get anything concerning tested.

I’d be thinking facia boards sometimes they tiled the ground floor with vinyl tiles and the adhesive had asbestos in and if it has a precast flue for fire or boiler that could be asbestos possibly done insulation
generally I wouldn’t suspect asbestos in the walls
no ideal but not a disaster ether

Thank you. I keep seeing it would be in plaster but how do I know?? I had no idea it could be in so many things, even carpet underlay 😒 I thought it was just the artex and in some outbuildings 🤦🏻‍♀️

If you're worried why not get an asbestos specialist round? You could get samples tested from everywhere you're planning to do work.
