Howden’s pricing

Hi all, just got our first pricing of our kitchen through from Howden’s, it is a bit on the high side, other people I’ve seen have gone and got comparison quotes from Wren, Magnet etc , to haggle the price down, but it seems a bit of a waste of time as we know we want a Howden’s kitchen. Or is that the only way to get the price down? Interested to hear peoples experiences with haggling with Howden’s

There's always an offer to be had. I would do a comparison with another company. Whilst they're not obliged to match a quote they are likely to want your business and improve on their offer. My sister had a Howdens kitchen installed recently and they gave her a chunk of money off by taking delivery a bit early and confirming the order, for example.

Always a deal to be had.
Are you putting it in yourself? If not find a carpenter with a howdens account as they get "trade" prices.

mightyducks · 09/02/2024 18:39

Hi no we have a builder lined up to put it in already- no idea what ‘trade’ price is though!

Ask your builder to price it up for you - trade prices are a lot lower than list price.

CatherinedeBourgh · 09/02/2024 18:53

Trade prices are much, much lower than retail!

Find a specialist kitchen fitter and ask them for a trade quote.

Notaflippinclue · 09/02/2024 22:14

Howdens are only trade

Our builder haggled them down and then we got more off by paying/ taking delivery by a certain time. We then had to put the kitchen in storage as we weren't ready to install it (Howdens paid for this for the first six weeks), but the discount made it worth it.

I've seen on another thread where someone sent their Howdens quote to DIY kitchens and asked them to quote like for like. Then, took that much cheaper quote to Howdens and asked for a price match. Varying degrees of success.

You4coffee · 09/02/2024 22:37

I did what @WillYouPutYourCoatOn suggests. Did the online DIY kitchens planner, costed it up and Howdens price matched.

WillYouPutYourCoatOn · 10/02/2024 19:42

@You4coffee how does that work then? So do you just do a non related DIY kitchens online plan, how do Howdens price match to that? They present you with their cheapest kitchens and you pick from that, but it might not actually be the kitchen you want from Howdens?

mightyducks · 11/02/2024 13:07

Thanks all, looks like I need to play the game and get a quote from DIY kitchens, can I just email them the plan I’ve got from Howden’s and they will give me a price?
