Does anybody have a recommendation for cleaner to get rid of mould in a bathroom please?

You need something with benzalkonium chloride in it. Horrible stuff but the most effective at killing mould. It doesn't necessarily get rid of the stains (you may need to bleach a few days later) but it kills the mould and the colour does go a lot as the mould dies off.

I used this around the shower grouting and it was fab, 100% worked. I don't know how it would be on bigger surfaces.

It needs bleach.

GasPanic · 09/02/2024 16:16

I used Nathruth mould and mildew remover.

It stinks of bleach so I suspect it has bleach in it. It is a kind of gel so seems to stick to the desired area rather than running off.

Cillit Bang Black Mould Remover works well in my experience.

The best is B&Qs/other hardware stores by the brand of HG. More expensive than others but often times doesn't require scrubbing just rinse off or lightly wipe. It does stink though! Sad

HG mould spray

Astonish mould and mildew remover spray

SteamingTangerine · 10/02/2024 12:28

I just use neat bleach, it works perfectly for me.

Astonish Mould and Mildew. Just spray on and leave to work it’s magic.
my bathroom is awful and it’s done amazing work so far. I haven’t done it in it’s entirety yet but the walls I’ve sprayed are perfect and I haven’t wiped them down yet

I recommend this too

I used the HG brand - really good and all the mould disappeared but left stubborn drip marks on the wall. Needed repainting anyway!
Thank you for all the recommendations

Lakeland's own brand. Stinks but works.

Bleach bleaches mould. It doesn’t kill it.

To remove mould, wipe over with soap and water and then splash or spray vinegar over it. Vinegar and methylated spirit do kill mould spores.

If you know what is causing the problem, fix it. It may be that you just need to ventilate better or you have a bigger problem. Even here in Perth, I keep a spray bottle of methylated spirit to go over my hotspot on a regular basis in winter, even though I have quite a large window I keep open for much of each day.

Once you are sure you have killed it and cleaned it off as much as possible, then use bleach to fade any remaining patches.
