Re-wiring work cost for 1300 sq feet house?

We just found out a house we like needs full house re-wiring. I have no idea how much something like this costs for a 1300 sq feet house and how long this would take? Do we need to leave the house and stay elsewhere? Thank you.

it was last done 30 years ago. and we are a bit worried about safety. I think it's for an upgrade they said.

yes, it's 1920s house, but last rewired 30 years ago. I consider 1920s house old now (?)

Depends where about you are and what else needs doing, eg plumbing. When I had done it all needed to be chased in, which meant replastered and repainted walls, plus floors had to be lifted for the plumbing. Was a massive job and had to live elsewhere, as couldn’t be done room by room whilst we lived in one room then moved once it was done, it had to be done all at once.

We had a 1960s property rewired a couple of years ago. 3 bedroom detached in Midlands. All 3 quotes were round £7k mark. It is work that needs doing and early on in redecoration process as its messy!

I paid £6k for a full rewire of a 2000 sq ft house in 2015. That did not include the cost of the distribution board, which had already been fitted.

To do the same 10 years later, I'd expect to pay £10-£12k. For a small house, maybe £8k
