What is this type of lock called?

I'm trying to find a lock like this for our ensuite bathroom, but I'm not sure what they're called... All my online searches for 'bathroom lock' or 'bathroom bolt' bring up things that don't look like this!

It’s a cabinet latch I think. 🤔

Yes, that's where the image is from - but this one is for a thin door so won't work

Yes, I tried that! But that just brings up loads of latches for... cabinets (i.e. not strong or big enough for a door door!)

Bathroom bar latch

Thumb latch

Thumb latch

I think that's something different, which has a mechanism on the opposite side of teh door to lift the latch?

I saw those too! But think they might be too small for an actual door (rather than a cupboard door)? Maybe they'd work though, and they are the right colour!

this says it’s thicker and for doors

Yes, right type of latch/lock, wrong colour (and none of right colour on their site). And then if I search for what they call it (bathroom latch) then you get millions of pages of these, which are called latches. Door furniture nomenclature is doing my head in!

Can I ask why an en-suite needs a lock at all? I can see why a family bathroom might but not an en-suite.

Yes that type of thing! Finish isn't quite right on that one though 😖

It doesn't really, which is why I'm not putting a conventional thumb-turn operated mortice lock on it. But now and then I want to hide from the children...

We have exactly this on our bathroom door. It is tiny but it works!

New2024 · 07/02/2024 23:39

I must admit there are only 3 of us in the household and we’ve never had a lockable bathroom door.
