Slowest painter in the world - how long would it take to complete this job?

How long should it take to complete this job:

Varnish 7 new internal doors, and sand and paint the door frames

Paint 4 small stools

The painter charges £165 a day and has already done 4 days. He has still got to do all of the sanding and painting of the door frames, which I know will take him an age. I'm also worried that he took the stops off the door to sand around, and now he has put them back, the door is not shutting properly. 😥😤 If he takes another four days to complete, it will cost £1320 in total 😲

Don't know whether to cut my losses, get the carpenter back in to fix the door and paint the frames myself...

A day

A day? Do you paint yourself? I had thought it would be a much quicker job...

I don’t know but I would never, ever agree a day rate with a decorator. Always agree a total price. Was your quotes not based on total price? Seems very unusual to pay by day rate for a decorating job and I’ve paid for hundreds.

I would have thought about 5 days all in.

A good few days, maybe 7.
The doors will require a few coats which need drying time in between and to be laid flat during painting process which takes rotation if you haven't got the workspace.
The sanding won't be too long provided it's not being stripped back to bare wood, if they are, it took me days to strip back skirting in my bedroom.

Thanks all. He is on day 5 today. The worst thing is, that my son's bedroom door is not closing properly... I doubt the painter will be able to sort this so now am I expected to pay for the carpenter to return to fix these?

We will cut our losses and ask him to sand today and then we are done.
