New house has major structural issue

I posted recently about issues in the house we moved into on 19th January and we've now discovered yet another problem, but a pretty serious one.

I noticed the upstairs floor was bowed near a wall, big gap under the skirting board which looked concerning. The joiner who looked today has said that at some point a wall was removed downstairs (which we never realised had actually been done) and no support above of any kind was put in. He's coming back tomorrow to put timber supports in the kitchen to shore it up.

I spoke to the neighbour to get an idea of what this part of the house previously looked like and he told me that the work was done well over a decade ago, by the owner who was there before our own seller.

Where do we go from here? I'm calling the solicitor first thing for advice but we're devastated at this latest setback. I feel like just packing a bag and leaving this place with the first property auction I can find

@INeedCharcoalPants we are in the same situation. We moved in January 2024 and discovered massive problems in our new house. I can't share more right now because we are waiting for the complete report from the building investigation inspector and will contact the people who are liable for all this mess. Too many sleepless nights and worries like yours. We pray that we can get through this. I will keep you updated. Be strong! I know it's not easy."

@sounfair1030 sorry to hear you're going through similar, it feels soul destroying when you just want to move into a house and get on with your life. I hope you get answers soon and get a plan in place to have all the issues sorted out speedily.

We have work starting tomorrow to put the new beam in, plus we've had various work done round the place, including a full re-render of the front of the building. This place still doesn't feel like home and I still have some ongoing anxieties as a result of whats happened, but I'm hoping that it will get better soon.
