Are there any areas of England with decent public services and amenities?

Not really sure where to post this but I am just finding my local area incredibly depressing at the moment. Pot holes everywhere, parks run down, libraries closing, litter and dog poo on the pavements etc - just a general sense of disrepair.

So my question is - is this just England in 2024 or are there some places which seem well maintained, where public services are good, where there's decent social care for those who need it?

If so, where?

London isn’t the bastion of services. The streets are very dirty unless you live in city which is cleaned for tourists or are not in eye wateringly rich areas.

getting a gp appointment is like the hunger games. Fly tipping seems to have returned as well as littering.

hospital waits are 9+ months and it’s costs £10 a day to travel.

I don't understand all these councils being bankrupt. It seems to be something that they all just declare, then carry on regardless, with no sign of help.

No but I mean it's happening everywhere. Surely the government can see there's a central funding issue that needs to be dealt with properly.
