Help finding a new home…

Hi all,
We are looking for a new home in the area we live now, just after an extra bedroom or two and a garden. We are about to agree a sale on our current home to make us more attractive buyers if something suitable does come up.

The issue being that we have been looking since November, have viewed 4 or 5 and only 1 of those was right. We lost out on that one to first time buyers (hence the decision to put ourselves in a better position).

I’ve been thinking about maybe posting in local Facebook groups to see if anyone is considering selling or maybe even posting flyers through doors. Is this mad? If not, what on earth do I say? Would you respond to someone directly if you were considering selling? Any advice would be very welcome!

It's very much the norm in our village. Lots of houses have sold via notes through doors at opportune moments. People do end up paying more for them, though.

That’s good to know thanks. My parents got them on occasion when I was growing up but they weren’t selling so nothing ever came of it. Good to know that it can work! I’m starting to stress about selling our lovely home when we have nowhere to go (not an easy fix with a toddler and dog in tow!). We are not too concerned about price given that properties with gardens are in short supply around here so always sell well. We are hoping that the next house will be long term for us anyway!
