Pics - could you put a porch on this house?

Could it be done? As the front bit of the roof is flat, how would the roof of the porch work?

Would only be a very small porch.

Can't imagine how it would look due to the roof.

Any insights welcome!

Is the roof flat or sloped?

jhpf · 04/02/2024 12:57

Could you not put it in front of that bit. So that roof stays untouched. Then a triangle roof porch infront.

This is pretty much what I thought but I don't know if a random triangle roof would look odd?

The whole bottom part would look better with a sloped roof but who has money to replace a perfectly good roof!?

I would imagine builders would cut away that front edge (where they put the porch). You may be better off with a canopy rather than an actual porch.

Be ware of blocking light to that window to the left of the door.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 04/02/2024 13:05

You wouldn't have a triangle! Have a flat edged one.

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 04/02/2024 13:06

The section to the left looks as if it is just decorative. Would it work if that was removed and then have a triangle roof for the porch? It would be less symmetrical but it isn't really symmetric now.

Cotswoldbee · 04/02/2024 13:12

Was the window to the left of the door previously a garage?

I would look into removing the flat roof to the left and replacing it with a tiled roof and then incorporate the porch into that.
Roof to the right looks to be way too deep to have a pitched roof.

Love a decent sized porch and in this case, personally I would be willing to spend to have one.

Some good ideas here thanks.

@Cotswoldbee I really love having a porch, it's so handy for deliveries and I like the extra door for the dog / security.
