I have just spotted a small patch of bubbling plaster on an external wall. How is this repaired and what sort of tradesperson do I need

When it's on the outside it is called render. A builder. Although if it is a small patch that you can easily reach you could try fixing it yourself?

A handiperson could also fix it.

Google rendering companies near you, although you need to figure out what’s causing the damp before having it done. Is the gutter leaking above it or is there a chimney above it that needs pointing repairing or something?

It’s on the inside of the external wall if that makes sense - in the house.

In that case, you need to work out where the water is coming from and fix that first. Is it first floor or ground floor? Can you take a picture of the outside and the inside of the wall. Are there any radiators or sinks, bath, showers nearby? Do you regularly check your gutters are clean?
