I actually must check Rightmove 20 times a day 😂 anyone else this crazy?!

Everything is either insanely priced or goes immediately. I've booked to see one tomorrow that the agent said they've limited to 8 viewings with the expectation it'll sell on Monday! Presumably after a bidding war 😣

We offered our max price on one last week that was rejected 😞 and there's just nothing coming to the market 😭

Hahaa
I can relate. Constantly refreshing my browser to see if anything new has come on or been reduced 😂
And yes couldn’t agree more. All the properties left on the market are either overpriced or just bad locations.

I’ve been outbid now 3 times this year on places I really liked so the refreshing continues

Pleased I'm not on my own!

It's disheartening. I'm thinking we are going to have to rent (which sounds super stressful!) but at least we then become chain
free cash buyers and hopefully can snap up a deal if any ever come!

What area are you hoping for?

Given how mad it is where you are, you need to get off rightmove and start doorstepping agents and making them all your besties. It's very common for houses not to hit online portals in popular areas.

Thanks. I've been in to agents and am contacting them weekly to have and chat and see what they have valued/might be coming up. Done a couple of viewings pre rightmove in this way. But nothing suitable 😞

Sounds like you are doing all the right things. Have you tried posting leaflets through doors in areas you like? I have considered doing this in an area where houses sell like hotcakes. The internet seems split on this one: a) well that's one way to be taken advantage of and sellers are a pain to deal with direct or b) that might just push someone who is thinking about it to make a decision (write them a lovely story about yourselves and why the area is your dream location!)

I can relate and I'm not even looking to move house at the moment! I'm just addicted to Rightmove 🙁

When I actually am looking to move house I will check Rightmove loads of times a day too!

ToHellBackAndBeyond · 03/02/2024 20:18

I love it! Window shopping for houses. Not looking to move for several years but still, it doesn't hurt to have a look.

Favourite areas are Cumbria and Devon. There are some truly glorious places on there.

TheNoonBell · 03/02/2024 21:15

Check multiple times a day and not wanting to move. Just couldn't shake the habit for the last few years, it is very, very addictive.

@KievLoverTwo a few people have suggested this to me. I haven't done it yet but my friend did and bought her house this way! I'm a bit nervous of doing it and negotiating cost etc without an estate agent.

You can actually bring an EA in to do that bit for you, just negotiate hard on the fee because they have far less work to do. Tell them you want them to manage the chain and any problems that may arise with it. Idk what the fee would be. Maybe 0.5%?

We almost did it buying a house from (now former) friends last year.

needahouseindurham · 04/02/2024 09:36

Love that some of you are just looking for fun! I don't think I'll dare look once I've found my house - I might see something I prefer 😂

I was worried about that too but I just couldn’t help myself. It’s the nature of addiction 🤷🏼‍♀️

Gloriasub · 14/02/2024 22:12

Same here lol
Even I have an offer accepted, but I still surf Rightmove and Zoopla
Sadly, there's nothing new in the area I look at.
Could still be good news - so that I can go for the one that is accepted

Thoughts on this £26m pad in Little Venice?

Apparently it once belonged to Michael Flatley (though he also owned many others).

Bit close to the Westway and Edgware Road?
