Ikea Pax - with bespoke doors?

Hi I am looking for less expensive options for bespoke wardrobes (3m run). Has anyone used Ikea Pax and added bespoke doors? Where could I find those and how much should I expect to pay?

Thank you very much

Or any other ideas for freestanding wardrobes that could be an alternative to fitted wardrobe? TIA

Have a look at Online Bedrooms, Jali or Fittingly for made to measure flat pack. We got some from Online Bedrooms, floor to ceiling, almost 3 m run for about £2k. They look really good and include trim to add so they're built in. We built the wardrobes ourselves and then paid our builders to cut and apply the trim as we're useless at diy and we have curved ceilings so it wasn't straightforward

Great tips, thanks very much!

There's a brand of fitted wardrobes called 'Bella' that is far cheaper than the fitted wardrobe companies but can also be customised to make them bespoke. Pax didn't work for us because our relatively low ceilings were too low for the tall Pax, yet the shorter Pax would have left us with a huge amount of space above the wardrobes.

There are quite a few online companies that supply them but we're about to order from this company: https://www.larkandlarks.co.uk/
We've priced a 4 metre run of wardrobes with various internal options at about £2.5k. I had a quote from one of the cheaper fitted wardrobe companies (Fittingly) which came in at £5k not including fitting. We're getting all the matching plinths, end panels and cornices, assembling the wardrobes ourselves and then a carpenter is going to make them 'fitted' iyswim.

They don't do as many different internal options as Pax, so if you wanted to get Pax carcasses and fittings, this company will also do the doors only to your specifications.

I can't vouch for the quality of the carcasses but we have had doors made for a set of built in wardrobes in another room and the quality was excellent.

I'm sure I saw plykea do wardrobe doors too. But maybe I made that up. Worth a look though.

Could get one from Facebook marketplace for £50 then pay someone handy to rebuild to fit the space and add nice doors?

I was absolutely sure I was going to get Pax, had it all in my IKEA basket and ready to go. But then something else in our reno was unexpectedly expensive and couldn’t justify spending £1600….

I got onto eBay and we bought four Crown double carcasses and six doors second hand - my husband nearly killed me as we he had to dismantle them and it took 2 hours…we also have a van so lucky enough to be able to transport them…but they look amazing now they are in at ours, butchered, reconfigured and fitted to hide any imperfections.

He is handy, which helped, but we got fitted wardrobes that would’ve cost thousands of pounds originally for £106.
