Pls help me choose grout tonight

I’ve been left some grout samples by bathroom installer. I don’t know if it’s best to go darker or light for the grout. And would you do a grout the same colour as the teal tile and neutral for the other two? Or same colour throughout? Teal tile is on one wall behind white and oak vanity, plainer tile on walls and patchy one on floor.

I think I'd go for the same grout for all the tiles. A light silver/grey would probably work well?

Aria2023 · 31/01/2024 18:27

I went grey grout for my kitchen and bathroom and I love it! Looks lovely and feels like it will stay fresh for longer than lighter grout. I went with the darker grey but it actually dosn't look that dark when dry. So I vote the darker grey...

I like the greyer tones but now don’t know if they work with the teal wall and oak look! Attached a photo which is pretty bad as no lighting in there yet

I'd go for the one on the left with those 2 tiles.
Is there a darker teal for the teal tiles?

TheOneWithUnagi · 31/01/2024 18:35

Actually I didn't see that the darker tile is on the floor. I'd get a darker grout but not as dark as the one to the right of that tile. It just needs to be basically the same colour as the tile IMO

Aria2023 · 31/01/2024 18:35

From the photo, i’d pick grey on the neutral tile and teal grout with the teal tile.

TheOneWithUnagi · 31/01/2024 18:35

Sorry another message... that teal one is definitely too blue.

Aria2023 · 31/01/2024 18:37

But, I also think the grey grout and teal would look nice too, so I don't think you can go too wrong. Did your Tiler recommend any?

EarringsandLipstick · 31/01/2024 18:38

Definitely the darker grey. The grout next to the teal is too blue, as others said.

Your bathroom is gorgeous. I'd love this.

MaggieFS · 31/01/2024 18:41

I don't think the blue tones with the teal tile (there's a tongue twister!!).

Can you do a photo with the other grouts adjacent to the teal tile?

It ok to have a different colour as long as it tones.

RuthW · 31/01/2024 18:42

As darling as possible

stclair · 31/01/2024 18:44

Thank you all for your feedback! Agree teal not the right teal. Narrowed down to this. The top sample is brownish, other two grey.

Unfortunately tiler had left by the time I got home. Just had text to say choose tonight so can bring in tomorrow. Doesn’t help choosing in a dark bathroom!

Not the brown. The other two look the same?

LuckyCharmz · 31/01/2024 18:48

Agree not the brown. Can u show the two greys positioned in the middle? Do look the same atm.

stclair · 31/01/2024 18:52

two greys in the middle and now one that matches the paler tile thrown into the mix. But will that one show mould in the shower?

I'd go for the one on the bottom of the 2 in the middle. Or one shade lighter. The one on its own is too light

MaggieFS · 31/01/2024 18:57

Can you do three separate pics, one per each grout with the grout lined up vertically between the teal and the other two so it's in contact with all three?

(Obvs you don't have to but I think it will make it more decisive!)

Flatleak · 31/01/2024 18:57

Bear in mind you can't clean darker ground with anything with bleach in so it's actually really hard to keep it looking clean.

If you live somewhere with hard water go light, or you'll forever be looking at white speckled grout by the shower/basin

Aria2023 · 31/01/2024 18:58

I'd say the one of the two shown horizontally. Preference is the darker of the two.

pickledandpuzzled · 31/01/2024 18:59

Darker. They get dark with age dirt and you’ll be forever trying to lighten it again.

stclair · 31/01/2024 19:02

There we go, all 3 options. Live in London so definitely hard water. Interesting info re deposits and bleach vs dark grout. Everyday is a school day.

Sorry I’m no help but I love your choices please post a pic when it’s finished :)

AuntieEmm · 31/01/2024 19:19

I like the darker of the greys (it's not too dark for limescale marks, or to worry about bleach)

Also when I read your thread title I was singing it to the Lion King 'Can you feel the love tonight'...'Help me choose a grout tonight...'

MaggieFS · 31/01/2024 19:21

Either the middle one or the darker one. I can't pick between them and think both are nice.

Whataretalkingabout · 31/01/2024 19:27

I would choose the darkest of the greys. But do ask the person doing the job. Often they know what is most up to date and looks best due to experience.
