Handles, switches, plugs - arrggghh!

We're nearing the end of a big, long build (extension and complete renovation). I have decision fatigue but I need to choose door handles (interior doors) and switches/ plugs.

I have no idea what colour/ style to go for. House is 1960s, but looks more like it was built in 1920s. Walls are going to be various earthy shades of F&B, Little Greene, etc. So, neither modern and slick nor Victorian/ period.

Door handles or door knobs? I prefer handles for functionality, but are they ugly?

Switches - have no idea what colour (black? white? brushed metal of some kind?) or style (rocker?? toggle???) to go for.

Help! Any styles or colours you love/ hate?

I'm in the same boat so I do sympathise... Personally I don't like metal switches and sockets as I'd rather they blend in with the off-white walls than stand out as a feature. But with earthy shades, a metal might work well. You might want to keep it the same as the metal for the door handles for continuity. I think a satin nickel is fairly neutral (as opposed to anything shiny) and goes well with most styles and colour schemes. As regards the type of handle, I would choose whichever you find most convenient. If you prefer to use lever handles, that's absolutely fine, go with that. If you choose knobs for how they look, you might end up regretting your decision.

Thanks @ClematisBlue49 - wise words... I'm massively overthinking this due to decision fatigue...

Comes down to personal taste, but we have a 1920s house and went for 20s style knobs on the doors (20s style doors).

For switches, I would 100% recommend dimmer switches. They're amazing. We went for brushed brass as it went with our interiors. Expensive switches, cheap sockets, as the sockets often can't be seen

...PS I just googled 'metal switches with earth toned walls' and brushed brass also looks nice.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yup we’ll need dimmers as all our lights are dimmable. So I just realised that makes the rocker/toggle question moot.

I like the brushed brass (and also dark nickel) ones. Just worried they’ll look too ‘period’ for our house. Also door handles will probably be a ‘white’ metal (brushed chrome or stainless steel etc)

Definitely handles not knobs as so much easier to actually use.
Pick a finish (eg chrome, Matt silver, bronze) and keep it the same across all switches and handles. Bear in mind some switches have curvy corners and some square- just a pet peeve of mine .....
