Horrible dingy lighting advice please

We bought this house a year ago thinking we would refurb the kitchen but I have pushed back as I can't cope with the disruption. We are painting and replacing the floor and so on instead.
When we moved in I thought the lighting was so dingy and depressing. Dp bought me the brightest bulbs available. This is worse not better.
I have attached a pic but it doesn't show how grim and yellow the light is though you can see the type of fitting. Any ideas what I can do to change it without replacing the pendants? There are two of these in there.

Get LED bulbs. The brightest LED bulbs are 1600 lumens, it wouldn’t be dingy then!

They also come in different types, warm or cool.
In fact I think they come higher than 1600 lumen, I might just be thinking of the ones for our fittings.

Is there anywhere you can add a floor lamp and/or LED strips under the cupboards. Single ceiling lights on their own always look awful.

The cupboard strips is such a great idea thank you. I could get a lamp but that's quite cluttered for me but the cupboard lights is a go er I think x

Would you suggest warm or cool?
