This is just for a year or maybe a couple of years.
It has to be new
Is IKEA the cheapest or are there cheaper options nowadays?
I've been looking for ex display and asking around the local area.

ikea is probably the easiest and most reliable of all the cheap options. you might get lucky with ex-display or similar, but hard to know.

Just coming here to second DIY Kitchens. We've just bought two kitchens from them and they were by far the cheapest but weirdly, also the best quality too (compared to all the usual suspects - Magent, Wren, Ikea, B&Q, Wickes etc).

Around 50% cheaper than Wren AND had better quality eg/timber painted doors compared to wrapped.

Totally agree. I viewed a house with a kitchen that in the photos looked fine yet in reality it must have been 'wrapped' as it was all peeling off terribly. They said it was only installed a year or two ago which I find hard to believe, and unfortunately the estate agent didn't seem to know what company it was from.

We installed our own DIY kitchen around 8 years ago and it looks as good now as the day it was put in. And yes, it is a painted finish. I know now never to have 'wrapped'.
