I am getting a new (very large, heavy) bed in a couple of weeks. Otherwise in that room, we need a new carpet, everything repainted, give the old bed frame away (still great condition so it won't be going to the tip), and need to order and build IKEA Pax wardrobes to replace the ancient chests of drawers we have been using as a "tenporary" measure.
Now that the bed is ordered, I've suddenly realised we should be getting most of these things done before the bed is in as it would be impossible to move the new bed out of the room once it's in (there would be nowhere for it to go except outside). I won't have an exact date for the new bed arriving until just before it arrives, I just know roughly 2-3 weeks. Does this order sound sensible?
- Order carpets and book carpet fitter now
- Book it in for around 2 weeks' time
- Arrange for someone to collect the old bed that day or day before
- Paint as much as we can between now and then - at least the skirting as that's most likely to mark the new carpets(?)
- Sleep on the mattress on the floor for another week or so if the bed takes longer to arrive
6 Finish any painting of walls we didn't get done before new carpets went in
- Build and install wardrobes last (will need to be built upright as no room to lie them down)
