Struggling to find area to move to Bristol/bath/surrounding towns

Hi,
Would love to hear any suggestions for areas that would be good to look at. I'm not really that drawn to Bristol or bath, although proximity via car or public transport (max 45 mins) would be great but not essential. No commute to consider but we are a mixed race family and I would really like to not feel out of place (in our current town people are friendly, but we can be aware of the difference and lack of ethnic diversity and don't really want our children to feel that too, if possible). Budget max is 750k, would like to be able to get a 4 bed with good sized garden for that amount.

I live in a town outside Bath (Wiltshire/Somerset direction). I don’t think any of the local towns this way are particularly diverse in terms of ethnicity. It’s one thing I really dislike about this area. Sorry that maybe isn’t helpful, except to say that the frome, Westbury, Warminster, Trowbridge, midsomer Norton type area probably isn’t what you are looking for. Maybe closer to Bristol is more diverse such as Keynsham.

I agree with the above.

A friend of mine really liked Henleaze which I know is Bristol but doesn’t feel like it. Or Long Ashton is lovely, and close to Bristol.

I live in Chippenham. It's not as diverse as Bristol, but there's still a reasonable amount of diversity here. Your budget is decent for here. There are excellent schools and transport links (I drove to Bath this evening and it took me 20 minutes, it's 10 on the train) and a great sense of community.

Feel free to PM me if you like.

Thanks, that's still helpful, it's what I'd expect too really, just hoping there may be some suggestions I might have missed or not thought about.

Will take a proper look, thanks. Henleaze looks nice but super expensive too.

I used to live in Chippenham and it's a fantastic place. Not massively diverse but more when I left than when I went.good schools and 750 will get you a house close to station and town in one of the posh areas. I'd move back in a heartbeat if I could.

Ah, we actually live in Chippenham at the moment. There is a lot to like about it but we never planned on staying long and don't love our house. I'm wondering if it's worth reassessing and considering staying, and I'm starting to see that it is still more diverse than lots of other areas, unless a city. Thanks for prompting the different perspective!

Thanks - interesting to have Chippenham suggested again! We had a significantly lower budget when we moved to Chippenham two years ago. What are the areas you'd recommend? I've seen some nice houses on Lowden Hill but don't really know the different parts of Chippenham well.

St. Mary Street in Chippenham is beautiful (if you like traditional, period houses).

Chippenham the town is pretty functional. Good access to M4 and train station. Excellent schools as PP said. But not much is the way of nice shops - a lot of vape shops and tattoo parlours!

You could also consider Corsham?

But if you want a town with ethnic diversity you are probably going to need to go closer to Bristol.
