Original Victorian cupboards housing fridge?

Has anyone integrated a fridge or freezer into old cupboards? I have original floor to ceiling panelled Victorian cupboards in my kitchen and would like to try a side by side under counter sized fridge and freezer behind the lower doors . I currently have a large fridge freezer which is a bit of a room blocker! Also it’s breaking! Has anyone done this? Any advice?

Fridges need ventilation which might be an issue unless you can adapt the cupboard somehow- you can't just put the fridge in a cupboard.

But integrated fridges go in cupboards don’t they …. so I was wondering if you need a modern cupboard or can an integrated fridge be fitted onto an old door….if ventilation regs etc are met

Integrated fridges have vents.

I'm sure you could do it and it would be very cool but you might need to fit vents into the doors. I'd suggest talking to someone who makes handmade kitchens to see if they can help.

Thanks that gives me hope!

Are the cupboards deep enough? They need to be at at least 60 cm for a housing….and you would need an electric supply inside which seems unlikely. Integrated fridges ( wretched things) go into special housing units , not just any old cupboard.

I think you would be better trying to use your cupboards as cupboards, and putting the fridge under a worksurface.

Thanks! There is a socket in the cupboard above so I think that would be ok but I’ve just measured the depth…55cm! So perhaps a no goer. I’ll get a fitter in to look

Surely integrated feisges are smaller as they fit into standard size units?

Apparently integrated fridges tend to be standard 60cm x 60cm
